What Is An Entrepreneur?

According to WikiPedia the definition for an Entrepreneur is:

“The term entrepreneur is a loanword from French and was first defined by the Irish-French economist Richard Cantillon as the person who pays a certain price for a product to resell it at an uncertain price, thereby making decisions about obtaining and using the resources while consequently admitting the risk of enterprise. The term first appeared in the French Dictionary “Dictionnaire Universel de Commerce” of Jacques des Bruslons published in 1723″.

Do you see yourself as an entrepreneur?

If so, have you asked yourself the question, what is an entrepreneur, specifically what is the role of an entrepreneur? Is there any one entrepreneur definition which states definitively the essentials of a successful entrepreneur?

Here is a list of characteristics that I believe are essential for the successful entrepreneur. Few of us exhibit all of these characteristics, but if you have even some you are definitely on the right track.

So what is an entrepreneur?

In my own experience and in the teachings from my mentors to me the definition of an Entrepreneur is:

“A person who solve problems for people at a profit”

Entrepreneurship is about commitment.
Entrepreneurship is about discipline.
Entrepreneurship is about consistency.
Entrepreneurship is all about drive, hard work and applying your mind properly.

Successful entrepreneurs are people who are compulsive in their need to ultimately succeed, even if this takes time and includes disappointment and failure along the way.

Entrepreneurs are not afraid to make mistakes. Unlike schools, when you make a mistake you get punished instead of being corrected, but entrepreneur’s learn the lesson from their mistakes and move on.

Entrepreneurship is about leadership: A successful entrepreneur understands how to be a leader and adds value to any existing leadership with their ideas, but at the same time they don’t try to know and do everything themselves, they are part of a “mastermind” group, having a group of people, each individual in the group have specialized knowledge in a different field.

Can you accept the word “NO”, over and over again, without quitting?

Criticism, what other people think and say, the dreaded word “NO”, if you can ignore these on a daily basis, hold on to you’re ideas and keep moving forward no matter what, I’m pretty sure you also have what it take to be successful.

An entrepreneur knows how to use leverage, and leverage is one of the keys to success.

Definition of Leverage: “Doing more with less”

A couple of examples of leverage is:

Outsource small/time consuming tasks which can be done by someone else, while you focus on more profitable tasks

Instead of helping one person at a time, help 100 people at the same time i.e. public speaker/mentor

First of all you need to find the right vehicle and then you need to find the right people to work with who can guide you on your journey. People who have already done what you want to do and are willing to show you the way.

What is the real meaning of residual income? No BS!

Are you still working for an active income? You know what I mean. You get up every morning, get ready, go to work, go home, go to bed and so the cycle repeats itself again and again. You get paid weekly or monthly for the time and effort you spend at work; when you don’t go to work you simply just don’t get paid.

Let me share with you my understanding of a J.O.B, Just Over Broke, I’m sure you heard this saying before. Unless you manage your financial situation extremely well and have a high paying job, most people just have enough every month to pay the bills and make ends meet.

So what exactly is Residual Income or recurring income?

Residual Income is doing work once and getting paid month after month, year after year, that’s it. Don’t that sound nice?

An example of residual income is an internet business, once the business foundations is in place, the system is systematized, the funnel is setup i.e. lead capture pages, email auto responders and merchant account for automatic payment. The only little bit of work involved is the maintenance, and that depends how well your business system is set up and how systematized the process is. Would you say 30 minutes a day is hard work for getting paid month after month?

Here are a couple of examples of the different types of internet businesses for residual income.

Promoting affiliate products, but why? By promoting a good affiliate product you get commission when you sell the product, in other words, it is like you refer a person to McDonald’s, when they buy from McDonald’s, McDonald’s give you a percentage of the sale, that easy! Also, when promoting affiliate products, if for some reason there are any complaints or refunds that is between the product owner and the buyer, none of your worries.

Membership sites: this is when you offer information and people join your site, paying you a monthly fee. Once the membership site is up and running, it basically requires very little maintenance if any and you will get paid month after month for the effort you put in once. The more paying members you have the bigger the amount of residual income.

How to Start Your Multiple Streams of Residual Income.

How can you create multiple streams of recurring income for yourself? I suggest using the one-bite at a time principle to create multiple streams of income. You start with one good program and focus on that until you achieve a steady stream of residual income, then repeat the process with the next online opportunity as follows:

First you need to identify a great affiliate program that meets all the criteria for success.

Create a budget for a minimum of six months and enroll in the first affiliate program.

Commit to spend a specific number of hours each week marketing your new business. Some programs like Empower Network provide a comprehensive Starter-up Guide.

DO NOT QUIT. You are building your own business and you must see this as the first step to achieving wealth and an early retirement.

When you start to generate a residual income with your first affiliate program, find another great program and repeat the process.

Are you working way too hard with little to show for it?

First of all you need to find the right vehicle and then you need to find the right people to work with who can guide you on your journey. People who have already done what you want to do and are willing to show you the way.

LinkedIn For Business

LinkedIn – the name is good. We all want to be linked in to what ever is happening; to be part of the “in” crowd has been most people’s goal since junior high school! So, why is the social media site such a snore? It’s bland, feels nothing but black and white and terribly dry. Do not allow yourself to think that way. People can see great results when they use LinkedIn for business: it is the best place online to build your reputation and position yourself as an expert. In fact, you are supposed to use LinkedIn that way. You are supposed to list all of your awards and special skills!

Here are 5 features on LinkedIn that will amp up your exposure and help you make better use of the time you spend there.

Join Groups Strategically

Some groups on LinkedIn are vibrant, active and full of great information. When consultants compete to offer clever advice, everyone wins! Other groups on LinkedIn are long abandoned. Therefore your strategy needs to be – pick a few that offer

local connections,

help, advice and support in your day-to-day work life and

access to your clients.

LinkedIn will consider you a first connection, and therefore permit you to request a “connection”, if you are in the same group as another person. It only makes sense, then, to join some of the groups in which your prospects actively participate.

Answers

By answering questions in your niche, you automatically increase your recognition and respect… so long as what you’ve said makes sense, is accurate and adds value to the conversation! There are two ways to provide answers:

The Answers Section on the Search Bar

Within The Groups Themselves

Recommendations

You need at least 3 recommendations in order for LinkedIn to consider your profile complete.

You need at least 5 recommendations, or one from every chapter of your career if you don’t want to appear a dead beat!

This can be a challenge if you’ve been downsized, outsized or shown the door by Security. The simplest, nicest way to earn a recommendation is to give one to another person yourself. Your “recommendee” is then obliged to offer you one in return… and if they don’t, you should likely ask them to. Reciprocity is a fundamental principle of social media.

First of all you need to find the right vehicle and then you need to find the right people to work with who can guide you on your journey. People who have already done what you want to do and are willing to show you the way.

Facebook For Business

Facebook is the largest social networking site with over 300 million users from all corners of the planet and all walks of life, from school kids, to college drop outs to old ladies in woolen dresses and for the vast majority of these people it is nothing more than a place to spend a few hours a week catching up with family and friends.

But there is another side to Facebook which is increasing its presence across the web and that is Facebook’s opportunities for business.

This article will provide you with three simple steps to help you build your business using Facebook. Here goes;

1. Branding – Like all good marketing campaigns it’s important to establish a strong visual image when marketing on Facebook or any other social networking site. Branding is vital if you’re going to stand out from the crowd and leave a long lasting impression on your virtual audience but how do you go about building your visual brand? Here’s what to do;

a. Upload a picture of your company logo or a great photograph of yourself to let people see who you are.
b. Write a short, punchy bio that you can use as a way to describe who you are and what you do within a short space of time. This is your 15 seconds of Facebook fame so don’t waste it.
c. Fill out a little detail on your information page to tell people more about yourself and mix this with both professional and personal details to create a real life persona that people can latch onto and that others will remember.

2. Content creation – A lot of people miss the opportunity to provide information about their business and promote this content on Facebook. This is so simple and yet very powerful and a great way of positioning yourself and your business as leaders in the industry. Uncertain how to do this? Here’s what to do;

a. Write a short, informative and entertaining note around 150-200 words in length.
b. Upload the note onto your profile by following the NOTES tab on the top of your profile page.
c. Tag a few people and add their names to the note so that when the note goes live they will see it and more importantly their followers and friends will see it too.
d. Publish the note!

5 Phenomenal Ways Instagram Can Boost Your Marketing Efforts

Instagram is a newly acquired tool by Facebook, available only on Androids and iPhones.

It is a photo-sharing program and requires only the possession of relevant mobile apps. Although this holds maximum usage in personal relations, business enterprises are also using this tool to boost their marketing plan. Here are five keys:

1. The common method is by using the square photos for advertising. You can also try different type of affiliate marketing by presenting rebates and events of different companies on the snaps. You can first create relevant brochures or pamphlets and then snap them to make the process viral. It has a tremendous amount of footfall and thus you can entertain others through periodic photo contests. Holding prizes or random selection of viewers has a remarkable way of ennobling followers.

2. You can automatically broaden the horizon for your snaps by geo-tagging the photos and naming the locations. This way, it qualifies into diverse selection of photos privy to that location, and reaches more people. Lately, other web profiles have been engendered to connect to Instagram snaps to any way reach for the stars.

3. You have to be a party animal here. Spare some time to go through others’ snaps and like those relevant to your niche. This builds camaraderie and exalts your stand in others’ eyes. Apt titling of the photos is must, so that Google Spiders catch these. Bing has a great sense of valor with Instagram.

4. Instagram shouldn’t only be about formal etiquettes. Encourage employees and customers to post some rare and shocking photos. The placement of bosses and subservient employees in a casual atmosphere would do well to showcase your love and bond to others. There are a few exceptional photographers and if you allow them their creative streaks, you allow a situation where new snapping ideas come into the fore. This builds enormous rapport with employees and helps impressively into your marketing plan.

5. You can also strengthen your SEO base by naming photos with apt titles. Keep space for viewer’s comments. You can use tools like Textagram to pave way for exciting content for your snaps. Send alerts to potential customers about the snaps, and weave a fluent marketing system through your photos. You can tell a smart marketing story through connecting snaps; almost in line of a PPT presentation. You can also be inventive and show others how they can varyingly use your products. It is better to get some basic knowledge about photography before utilizing Instagram. It also allows hashtags to facilitate connection and update with Twitter, where you can be more specific about your plans. Yes, you cannot think your work done by working extensively over Instagram. There has to be a coherent and layered work done on Social Media Sites as well to draw a balance.

There is no question that Instagram and sharing of photos has exponentially helped businesses to thrive.

In order to stay updated with viral changes, it is imperative that you stay with the times and accept these mores to your advantage.

First of all you need to find the right vehicle and then you need to find the right people to work with who can guide you on your journey. People who have already done what you want to do and are willing to show you the way.

Earl Nightingale’s Secret to Success

Have you ever thought “What is the Secret to Success”. I know I have.

I was just reading about Earl Nightingale and his secret of success and found some great information to share with you courtesy of Success Magazine

Earl Nightingale’s 17-year quest for the secret of success ended one night in 1950, when he came across a sentence in a book. To Nightingale, it was more than a string of words on a page—it was the answer to the question that had haunted him since childhood. “What makes the difference?” Why are some people well-off financially and others poor?

This video taken from the archives and shared by Success Magazines is of Earl Nightingale talking about “The Strangest Secret” – just 20 minutes long it is worth every minute.

Here’s the Video “The Strangest Secret”

The legendary Earl Nightingale spent 17 years on a quest to answer one question: What makes the difference? He wanted to discover why some people are financially well off while others are poor.

His mother, Gladys Nightingale, encouraged him to read. “Knowledge is everything; everything you want to know has been written down by someone,” she told him.

In 1950, at the age of 29, he found the answer he was seeking in Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich. It was six simple words:

We become what we think about

To become what you think about, take Nightingale’s 30-day test. It could change your life:

Write on a card what you want more than anything. Make sure it is a single goal and it is clearly defined.

Don’t show it to anyone, but carry it with you so you can look at it several times a day.

Think about it in a cheerful, relaxed and positive way each morning when you wake up.

Look at it before you go to bed at night. As you look at it, remember you must become what you think about.

Now comes the difficult part: Stop thinking about what you fear. Each time a fearful or negative thought comes into your consciousness, replace it with a mental picture of your positive and worthwhile goal.

Each day of this 30-day test, do more than you have to do.

Take control of your mind, knowing your returns will be in direct proportion to what you give.

I would love for you to share with me by leaving a comment below this post or connecting with me on social media the results of your very own 30 day test or what you thought about the video.

First of all you need to find the right vehicle and then you need to find the right people to work with who can guide you on your journey. People who have already done what you want to do and are willing to show you the way.

Latest update on the Google Penguin

Google recently unleashed its dreaded “Penguin Update”

Here’s a “Beat The Penguin Checklist”

On Page Optimization Checklist

Google has described the Penguin update as a “web spam” update. Therefore it is critical that your site follow Google’s recommendation in regard to making sure your site avoids any of the practices that Google may perceive as being used by search engine spammers. This starts with making sure you have good, relevant On-Page optimization.

1. Don’t Panic.

It’s important to understand that Google’s algorithm changes all the time. With every major change, a lot of people give up and walk away from their online business. It is the people who stick around, analyze what happened, and take the appropriate action that eventually succeed. So make the decision to stay calm, and take a data driven approach to improving your rankings.

2. Don’t randomly delete content.
A lot of people have a knee-jerk reaction to Google algorithm changes and take a hatchet to their website. For example, one of our users had a blog on their domain that included articles, which they had syndicated. In response to the Penguin update, they immediately deleted the blog. The problem with this is that this created a big hole in their site, with a lot of incoming links pointing to – nothing. These “dead links” might actually be a red flag to Google as they may make your site look like an expired domain that has been purchased for SEO purposes.

As a good standard practice, if you do delete content make sure you do a 301 redirect to relevant content on your site. You can read this article on SEOMoz about what 301 redirects are and how to apply them to your website. If you’re using WordPress, then you can install a plugin like the “Simple 301 Redirects” plugin to achieve a similar effect.

3. Eliminate over optimization in all your page titles.

Search Engines punish sites that try to “keyword stuff” their titles with too many keywords. Check the title of each page on your website for over optimization. Change the titles of your pages to be optimized for human readers, rather than for search engines.

For example if your page is currently titled: ‘Graphic design services, graphic design firm, Success By Design’ You should change the page title to something like: ‘Success By Design, affordable graphic design’.

4. Create unique Title tags and Description tags for every page

One surprisingly common error that we see on a lot of sites is that people have copied code from an existing page to create a new page and end up with pages having duplicate titles or descriptions.

This is a problem for a number of reasons. Firstly, it creates multiple pages on your website that are all trying to rank for the same keywords. Secondly, the Google Panda update penalizes sites that have a high degree of duplicate content, and duplicate titles and descriptions can sometimes trigger this penalty.

Check that every page on your site has a unique title and description that clearly describes the content or purpose of the page.

5. Check Google Webmaster Tools for ways to fix your HTML

Google Webmaster tools is a free service that Google makes available to webmasters to help them to diagnose any problems with your website that might affect Google’s ability to index and rank your site. It offers a lot of useful tools to analysis of your site and highlights simple things you should fix such as Google Bot crawling errors, missing pages, and duplicate title tags for example.

Here’s an excellent video that Google has created that shows you how to use Webmaster Tools to improve your rankings on your website:

6. Reevaluate your internal links.

If you have created internal links to a specific page using target keywords in your anchor text, change the anchor text of these links to include brand and generic terms. As a rule of thumb aim for 40% brand links, 40% generic links and 20% target links.

For example, for our product “market samurai” we would want to create links where:

●Around 40% of links contained brand related keywords such as “Market Samurai”, as well
as Branded URLs, such as “http://www.marketsamurai.com”.

●Around 40% of links contained natural organic “generic” keywords such as “click here”,
“check this out”, etc.

●And only around 20% of links actually contain keywords that you are trying to target to
improve your rankings for, for example “keyword research software”, “keyword research
tool”, etc.

7. Make sure your site contains the right elements

There are a number of simple elements that Google looks for when evaluating your overall site. These include:

●A Site Map page that helps visitors understand where to find information on your website.
●An XML sitemap to help Google index your site effectively
●A Robots.txt file to specify which files or directories Google should ignore when crawlingyour site.
●A Privacy Policy
●A Contact Page that includes a real-world address

8. Create useful links between pages on your website

One of the characteristics of ‘Content Farm’ sites is that there are usually very few links between pages. On the other hand, sites that contain deep, useful content often have links between pages to direct the user to additional related content.
The safest way to create links between pages on your site is to do it manually with a focus on helping the reader discover other relevant content. A great example of this is Wikipedia.com which has a lot of relevant keywords in each entry linked to other definitions throughout it’s site.

9. Optimize your site’s download speed

If your site takes too long to load, users will go elsewhere and Google will notice that visitors don’t spend much time on your site. This is a strong indicator that your site is poor quality and of poor relevance for the search terms that you’re trying to rank for.

You should therefore test the performance of your site using a tool such as: http://www.webpagetest.org

This site will test your site and give you a breakdown of where download bottlenecks might be occurring. Some of the things you might consider include:
●Reducing the size of your image files
●Eliminating Flash animations
●Eliminating unnecessary java script files

10. Create a helpful 404 page

When your server cannot find a page that your visitor is looking for you should handle this ‘404 Not Found’ error in an elegant and useful way. Instead of just displaying a message like “You 404’d it. Gnarly, dude.”

You should present them with a useful message and links to a relevant page. This could include your home page or your site map. Avoid redirecting all your 404 traffic to a single location such as your home page, as this is can be seen to be a search engine trick for which your site may be penalized.

You can also check your “crawl errors” page from within Google Web Master tools for a list of any 404 errors. You can then create placeholder pages or 301 redirects to eliminate these ‘holes’ in your site.

11. Optimize your images for humans

For each image on your site, you should include alternative text using the alt attribute. It is very important not to fill your alt tags with keywords. This is known as ‘keyword stuffing’ and can have a negative impact on your rankings.
Instead of trying to stuff keywords in your alt tags, you should take the approach of creating a brief description of the image that would help a visually impaired person using a screen reader to understand what the image depicts and how it relates to your content. For example:

<img alt=”An Australian flag” src= “http://mysite.com/images/australian-flag.jpg”>

12. Add rel=”nofollow” to all comment links

Be sure to configure your content publishing software to automatically add the rel=”nofollow” attribute to all comment and message board links. This will prevent you from passing your reputation to other sites. More importantly, it prevents
you from being penalized for linking to sites that Google considers to be low quality or spammy.

Google can and will penalize your website if it perceives you are linking to “poor quality neighborhoods”. Adding the rel=”nofollow” attribute will prevent you from triggering these penalties from comment spam.

* Note: WordPress versions 1.5 and above automatically assign the nofollow attribute to alluser-submitted links (comment data, commenter URI, etc.)

13. Add a social dimension

With social media becoming more and more important, make sure that you give your visitors the opportunity to share your content with their friends and followers via Facebook, Twitter and Google + Social signals such as traffic, and “Likes” and “Tweets” are all positive signals to the search engines that your site is of a high quality and deserves to rank highly for a keyword phrase.

If you use WordPress, you might want to check out the floating social bar Digg Digg or the range of social plugins from Shareaholic.com

14. Focus on keeping people on your site

Log into your Google Analytics account and check your ‘bounce rate’ which is the percentage of users who enter your site and then leave without viewing any other pages.

Pages with a high bounce rate are a signal to Google that your page is of a poor quality match for the keyword that they found your page for. Google uses this information as a factor in their
search algorithm. Monitor this metric and do what you can to increase the amount of time visitors spend, and the number of pages they view on your site.

Provide links to other relevant articles in the side panel and at the end of your pages. Give your visitors as many reasons to stay as possible. Put yourself in your visitor’s shoes and imagine what they are looking for. Present them with as many high-quality, relevant options as possible to convince them to stay.

Here are two useful WordPress plugins for decreasing your bounce rate:
1.SimpleReach Slide
2.Related Posts Thumbnails

SEO – Things to Be Aware of in 2012

The key to promoting your business (besides hiring an amazing guru) is gaining your consumer’s attention before your competitors.

SEO has become one of the main methods to promote websites, blogs and other internet platforms to users. However, the space is always changing and within the last two years we have seen many changes within the SEO industry, especially with the growth of social media, smartphones and tablets. Below we have listed some 2012 predictions to prepare your websites and blogs, whether you use them for business or pleasure.

Social Media Integration
The growth of social media soared in 2011, with Facebook and Twitter opening its platforms for businesses. A survey conducted by Caliber showed that technology specialists predicted that social signals would influence SEO the most in 2012, representing an overall realisation from the industry that businesses will need to expand their SEO knowledge to keep up with demand from their consumers. Interestingly, Facebook has already updated its business pages with a timeline that groups links and comments together, making it easier for the consumer to interact with the rest of the community. Some businesses (especially start-ups) are solely relying on social media to promote their services instead of a website, making the integration more probable.

Mobile Optimisation
In 2011, mobile web made a huge impact in the technology market. It became easier for the consumer to purchase through platforms like eBay and this impact is predicted to grow in 2012. As more customers will become increasingly open to using their mobile phones to purchase tickets, bus and train journeys and buy groceries, SEO will have to grow alongside the mobile markets to meet demand. This will mean that app developers, website designers and social media gurus incorporate SEO into their posts, upgrades and uploads creatively if they want to audiences to continue growing.

Tailored Search Results
All web platforms in 2011 began relying on personal information, either from integrating social media profiles such as Facebook and Twitter, or users openly giving their details to the public domain, to pick up consumers. Predictions for 2012 see social media and search history become important to Google and SEO. Features will begin to rely on a browser’s history, current location, Google+ profile, and other data from a Gmail account, trying to tailor results to specific users. This could also mean that social media platforms not associated with Google could influence a search such as taking into account interests, age, job and relationship status.

Google Vs Images
Websites like Instagram and Flickr are just a few image sites that the internet relies on. 2012 will see a new image based search engine launches for users, competing with Google and emphasising SEO in image descriptions and names. This new engine will decrease the space between SEO and social media, linking images with blogs and image-based websites, possibly making Google images obsolete.

Utilizing SEO for Your Internet Business

There are a lot of different methods on how you can promote your internet business.

One of the most effective ways to do this in today’s world is with the use of SEO which stands for search engine optimization. What this means is that you are utilizing commonly used or popular search engines to make sure that people see your product advertisements. Now when you are new to the internet business you may be a little confused about how SEO works and what it can actually do for you and your business.

To put it into simpler terms, think of it this way, SEO and your internet business run in a similar manner as a television and commercials do. People tend to familiarize a commercial that comes up on television the most and goes on repeatedly. With SEO, when someone is looking for a product in your category, that your home based business offers, when they search for it, they are immediately directed to a variety of stores. People usually use those that are on the first page or so.

When your links or ads are on that first page, you get maximum exposure for your internet business.

This means that more and more people are able to visit your store. They can see your items more often and there is a higher probability that they will purchase from you. You can even increase those chances when your prices are competitive enough. This all boils down to your strategy plan.

That is why it is very important that when setting up an internet business you still make sure to full proof your plan and be prepared for any disastrous events. Even if home based business ventures are easier to establish in comparison to other tangible businesses, this does not mean that you should not take it seriously. Remember that all these types of business involve having to shell out some capital money to start that business so you have to make sure that you get back that money plus interest.

Otherwise, there really is no point in setting up a home based business. If you want to learn more on how to really optimize establishing a good marketing strategy with search engine optimization for your internet business, make sure to do more research. Study more on the topic so as not to get confused. This is an advice that is especially directed to the newbies in this particular industry so that you do not get left behind with your establishment.

In order for one to get ahead in this fast rising world of internet business, you need to be updated in the ways of the internet and computers. Make sure to utilize all of your resources to ensure that things go smoothly. Never just settle for what is already there because you always have to think in a competitive manner.

You need to check whether others are using the same methods with their internet business or if they have moved on to more advanced methods.
